5 Tips for a smooth wedding day!

1. Break in your shoes before the big day

One of the biggest wedding day tips we can give is, don’t let the wedding day be the first day you wear your new shoes! The first dance with hubby should be full of joy and bliss, but if your wearing your shoes for the first time on the day of your wedding that may not be the case. Brides shouldn’t have to choose between gorgeous shoes and sore feet on her wedding day! Try wearing your new fab stilettos a few times before the big day. Wear them around the house so you don’t have to worry about getting them dirty. Consider it training 🙂 If your scrubbing dishes in your stilettos and dancing to some 90’s pop that sure makes doing dishes a little more fun, doesn’t it?  One side tip that goes along with this one, pack your flip flops! You will thank me later! You may even put them on half way through the reception or just go barefoot! Your tootsies will love the relief!

2.  No Matter what, you MUST eat!

So many times due to the hustle and bustle of the day, Brides and Grooms will end up missing the meal. We all know a hangry bride is not who any of us want to be, I know I get hangry and it’s not a pretty sight! Honestly though, it’s important that you get to eat, not only because you paid for the food, you chose it, you should get to partake in it. But also, you need your energy! You are going to be dancing the night away, possibly even having an after party and if you don’t eat you’ll regret it later!! Be sure to stash a bag of snacks/water bottles also in your getaway car, or with your “After the wedding” bag. That way on the way to your hotel you can snack on some things or have them for the hotel room. We all know hotel’s don’t always have 24/7 room service and you will be hungry! I know I was!

3.  Hire a great team

What makes a wedding day run smoothly has so much to do with the team you hire to support you.  Having a Wedding Coordinator or at least a “Day of Coordinator” can make all the difference in the world. They can help you stay on schedule, make sure you utilize the time as wisely as possible, and get the most “Bang for your buck”. If you have a team that works together that is the ultimate goal and hope! I always try to get to know the vendors that I will be doing a wedding with before a wedding and even make contact. It’s a good idea to make sure that at least the DJ and Photographers work together, along with the coordinator and be sure all knows what happens when so you all can be on the same page. Making sure the Photographer knows when the DJ is going to announce Cake cutting time, and letting the Photographer know in advance when the send-off is going to happen is a huge help to us photographers.

4.  Create a survival day kit

It’s a really good idea to create a survival kit for little things that could go awry. Heres a little list of must-have’s:

  • Mini sewing kit with scissors, needle/thread, buttons, safety pins
  • Tweezers: From stray hairs to splinters, never know when you’ll need them.
  • Baby Powder: On hot summer Oklahoma days, you may need a little moisture absorbing action to help with nervousness. It also smells great, can double as Dry Shampoo as well. Another great use is to help stop chafing anywhere that rubbing occurs.
  • Extra undergarments – When baby powder doesn’t cut it.. see above.
  • Tampons/Pads and panty liners – Even if you don’t need it, your bestie might, or one of your guests.
  • Meds – Throw some Tylenol, Motrin and some antacids in a bag, you never know when headaches, indigestion and cramps may occur.
  • Deodorant – Someone may have forgotten it!
  • Razor – Never know!
  • Snacks (see prior tip)

5.  Write a love note to your Groom/Bride (If you guys’ are reading this)

Take some time and write your fiance out a letter, tell him your heart and why you love him so much, share funny memories and stories. This will help him and you with early gitters, remind him that all that matters is the two of you and the fact your soon going to be MARRIED!
